Today I was asked to be careful what I taught in Elders Quorom.
by Mormon Traitor Feb 2012
The Elders Quorom president came to me today and asked me to be careful what I teach because there would be an investigator there today. He said, "Don't go into any topics or history that would offend or upset the new guy. We want to keep him." Isn't that crazy? We only have 5 active EQ members. Our ward is dying. We only average about 45 every Sunday. We used to have about 120. I realize thy would be thrilled to gain a new member, but it's pathetic to have to hide the truth about our church to keep new members.

Give yourself a better name. Calling yourself a traitor is a negative connotation. They are the bad guys not you. It should be Mormon Freedom Fighter or some such. Only the loser gets called a traitor and you are winning!!

So, what was your lesson on? Did you manage to slip in a little meat?

It's nice to hear examples first hand how the "truth is not very useful" in the church.
The EQ might have well have said, "Let's keep the new guy in the dark as long as possible."
I agree about the name though. Such a good post deserves a better name. Please keep them coming. I love stuff from the front lines.

How do you stomach going to church still?
Just the idea of being in that brainwashed atmosphere turns me off.
I loathe the idea of singing "Praise to the Man". Praise to who? The Polygamist, narsacistic, pedophile? Why don't we sing "Praise to Al Capone"? At least he didn't pretend to be a nice guy.

Do what you want, teach what you want. Who do you think is more important to the EQ pres, you who are teaching and one of the 5 EQ members, or some investigator who will be gone in another week or so? Their hands are tied so PUSH THOSE LIMITS and SHOW the EQ Pres. that you're not his toady.

Re: Today I was asked to be careful what I taught in EQ.
Bwahaha... This reminds me. The misshies that were trying to commit me to baptism never once mentioned any other Mormon scriptures aside from the Bible and the BoM. Then one meeting after having attended church with them I asked about Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. The misshies were stunned and caught off-guard. They admitted that those were also scriptures, but wanted more to know how I knew about them. I was feeling like being nice, so I just reminded them that most of the members that did the speaking at the sacrament meeting I attended with the misshies were quoting from D&C and PoGP rather than from the BoM in their speeches. (I didn't even add a 'Duh!' at the end of that).
The next time I went to church with them, of course, everyone was quoting the BoM and the Bible and none of the other books. A bit convenient a coincidence for me. :oP

All i can say is that is pathetic. Lying or keeping info from someone who is an investigator is shameful and the fact he came to you to tell you not to upset him shows how ridiculous such a church is.

I would have asked---Why? Is there something bad about the church?

I actually had the EQP stand up and take the papers out of my hand and told me to sit down, that he would take the lesson from here. I was only teaching about JS having himself declared King of the kingdom of god on earth.

Your minds are in the gutter, I didn't mean it THAT way..lol&

Oh, you've gotta
slip the new guy a copy of the House of Handshakes endowment ceremony - scary changes and all. He would be history! Of course, if you cc your bishoprick, YOU will be history! Yeah!

Milk before Meat thats all, nothing sinister. It's how the programming works!
Don't forget to tell the new guy about 'only' looking on LDS.orgre and mormon.orgre etc for Mormon stuff.
The Hat and Stone was once brought up in EQ by a somewhat disgruntled recently newly baptised chap. The EQ teacher was in a right confused sudden freeze, didn't know what to say and actually said nothing and continued with the 'programming'! lol

Re: Today I was asked to be careful what I taught in EQ.
I always thought about this when I was TBM and giving lesssons. I realized how careful I needed to be about history so as not to turn off a golden investigator. How stupid I was to not see what this meant. The more truthful and complete we are in explaining history, the less chance an investigator has in accepting the church. So, we hide, deceive, whitewash, twist, lie, bamboozle, betray, fool, hoodwink, dupe, scam, swindle, trick, con, double-cross, pretend, mislead, beguile, manipulate, entice, flimflam, and victimize to get one more baptism, all in the name of the Lord. What is wrong with this?

Re: Today I was asked to be careful what I taught in EQ.
When I was a missionary, we never brought investigators to "fast and tell a story meeting" because of the whacked out stories that were told. If only I had looked at that as a reason for my current thinking. It would have made for a more fun experience with my investigators telling their stories. Ha

"yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords forever."
Looks like the church took a page from the devils playbook, at least according to the BOM.

I like your name. It takes enormous courage to go against your
peer group when you see they are wrong. Being a traitor is a good thing as a Mormon. But then I love being an apostate heretic too.
I'm so glad to hear your ward is shrinking.
