"Mormons get their own planet"

"Then will they become Gods...they will never cease to increase and to multiply, worlds without end. When they receive their crowns, their dominions, they then will be prepared to frame earths like unto ours and to people them in the same manner as we have been brought forth by our parents, by our Father and God” Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 17:143

Original question:
Any pages summarizing church doctrinal teachings or leaders' quotes on this topic?

JoD3:360
Replace "Planet" with World and you'll find all kinds of material
There has been a lot of claiming that the church does not teach we get planets, and that technicality makes their defense easier to support because the word is actually Worlds.

The scriptures and teachings are full of the word Worlds.

Sources, quotes on "Mormons get their own planet"
Journal of Discourses Volume 6 page 275 --Brigham Young

""After men have got their exaltations and their crowns -- have become Gods, even the sons of God -- are made Kings of kings and Lords of lords, they have the power then of propagating their species in spirit; and that is the first of their operations with regard to organizing a world. **Power is then given to them to organize the elements, and then commence the organization of tabernacles**. How can they do it? Have they to go to that earth? Yes, an Adam will have to go there, and he cannot do without Eve; he must have Eve to commence the work of generation, and they will go into the garden, and continue to eat and drink of the fruits of the corporeal world, until this grosser matter is diffused sufficiently through their celestial bodies to enable them, according to the established laws, to produce mortal tabernacles for their spiritual children.""

Yep -- we are going to be Gods and create our own planets !!!
THE ADAM-GOD DOCTRINE AT ITS VERY BEST !!!

1876:

"All those who are counted worthy to be exalted and to become Gods, even the sons of God, will go forth and have earths and worlds like those who framed this and millions on millions of others

Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 18:259, October 8, 1876

"Then will they become Gods...they will never cease to increase and to multiply, worlds without end. When they receive their crowns, their dominions, they then will be prepared to frame earths like unto ours and to people them in the same manner as we have been brought forth by our parents, by our Father and God”

Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 17:143

"As our Father and God begat us, sons and daughters, so will we rise immortal, males and females, and beget children, and, in our turn, form and create worlds, and send forth our spirit children to inherit those worlds, the same as we were sent here, and thus will the works of God continue, and not only God himself, and His Son Jesus Christ have the power of endless lives, but all of His redeemed offspring."

Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses 14:242

1894:

"...we shall sit upon thrones, governing and controlling our posterity from eternity to eternity, and increasing eternally"

Lorenzo Snow, Millennial Star 56:772, October 5, 1894

1956:

"...A man and his wife when glorified will have spirit children who eventually will go on an earth like this one we are on and pass through the same kind of experiences, being subject to mortal conditions, and if faithful, then they also will receive the fullness of exaltation and partake of the same blessings."

Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation 2:48

2001:

"They will receive everything our Father in Heaven has and will become like Him. They will even be able to have spirit children and make new worlds for them to live on, and do all the things our Father in Heaven has done."

Gospel Fundamentals [2001], 201

2012:

"Do Latter-day Saints believe that they will “get their own planet”?

No. This idea is not taught in Latter-day Saint scripture, nor is it a doctrine of the Church. This misunderstanding stems from speculative comments unreflective of scriptural doctrine. Mormons believe that we are all sons and daughters of God and that all of us have the potential to grow during and after this life to become like our Heavenly Father (see Romans 8:16-17). The Church does not and has never purported to fully understand the specifics of Christ’s statement that “in my Father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:2)."

Great info, Just browsing and tillamook, I'm saving all to folder.

In the fundamentals manual (I assume that's a manual?) only a decade ago. wow. Guess it wasn't so fundamental after all.

DW acknowledges the dishonesty in this blatant obfuscation by TSCC, but she just thinks the church is being pragmatic during Mitt's run. To her, it's not a problem that the non-LDS world thinks this is a wacky doctrine, and she thinks the church is just being practical, in a merely temporary way, in watering down its doctrines for public consumption. She figures "the world" just won't understand, so "milk before meat" is justified.

Her ethics are so weak, it's embarrassing. I'm daily astounded by her general lack of conscience about immorality and ethical problems in the current church, while at the same time being hard-line about "righteousness doctrines" like modesty, chastity, and homosexuality. Church is always true, always right, somehow.

Joseph Smith stated: "Here then is eternal life - to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God the same as all Gods have done before you" (JOD 6:4; TPJS p.346). Brigham Young, the second prophet and president of the Mormon Church, delivered a message in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on August 8, 1852, in which he affirmed this teaching when he said, "The Lord created you and me for the purpose of becoming Gods like Himself" (JOD 3:93).

The Encyclopedia of Mormonism concurs with this thought when it states: “For Latter-day Saints, the term ‘godhood’ denotes the attainment of such a state—one of having all divine attributes and doing as God does and being as God is” (The Encyclopedia of Mormonism, 2:553).

"…since mortal beings are the spirit children of Heavenly Parents, as pointed out in the last chapter, the ultimate possibility is for some of them to become exalted to Godhood." (The Gospel Through the Ages, Hunter, p.104) Brigham Young declared: "Intelligent beings are organized to become Gods, even the Sons of God, to dwell in the presence of the Gods" (Discourses of Brigham Young, p.245).

“Latter-day Saints believe in this progression in eternity until, eventually, we become worthy through knowledge, wisdom, humility, and obedience, to be like God, and then to have the privilege of being made equal in power, might and dominion (D&C. 76:95), and to possess all that the Father hath (D&C. 84:38) as members of ‘the Church of the First-born’” (LDS Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, The Way to Perfection, p.9).

There is no end to this development; it will go on forever. We will become gods and have jurisdiction over worlds, and these worlds will be peopled by our own offspring.” Doctrines of the Gospel, Student Manual, 1986; also see Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 1955, v. 2, p. 48

Sadly, this has been my common experience with most TBMs when confronted with the blatent (imho shameless) dishonesty of the church.

If the church is right, they are right. If the church is wrong, they are even more right.

How about their own current Gospel Principles manual - the one used to teach new members. The last chapter is about "Exhaltation". You can find that chapter here:

http://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-47-exaltation?lang=eng

Under the question of what is exhaltation it says:

"Exhaltation is eternal life, the kind of life God lives. He lives in great glory. He is perfect. He possesses all knowledge and all wisdom. He is the Father of spirit children. He is a creator. We can become like our Heavenly Father. This is exaltation."

Then under the question of what are some blessings of exhaltation it says:

"2. They will become gods (see D&C 132:20–23)."

Seems pretty clear to me - Mos that pass the test will become gods and creators like our heavenly father.

If you want a version of the manual easier to cite to, a pdf version of the entire manual is here:

http://www.lds.org/languages/pdf/gospelprinciples/GP_2010__00_00_Complet...

The quotes are on pages 275 and 277.

..."spirit children who eventually will go on an earth like this one we are on"

Is this earth not a planet? Am I missing something here?
